If the bow is above the line and the stern under it, they're moving away. Set it midships at the waterline under their name/icon. One difficulty is in figuring out the line running through their ship.

That requires shrinking the oval somewhat as their path of travel will be curved, and then anticipating the shape of the curve as well. Advanced class is firing into an anticipated turn. That may or may not be advisable, depending on circumstances, but you're less likely to bounce. Note that shifting the aim point off the line a bit in this way gets you away from the waterline and into superstructure. The actual view is a bit flatter than my example, I think. Aim just to the outside of that point for ships coming in, and just to the inside for ships going away. For this, draw a line stem to stern through the target''s midships and extend that line till it hits your oval. Most people are fairly good at drawing a circular shape given those four points.įrom there we need to know where along the oval to aim. It won't be any farther left/right up/down than that. If you can learn the lead for a ship going broadside and traveling to/away from you, you know the bounds of that oval. As you come closer to the plane that circle is on, it changes apparent shape and turns into an oval. Take the circle and change your point of view. The radius of the circle is the distance the ship can move in a given time. From a top down view with a ship at the point in the center of a circle. Well, I dunno about the rest but I'll take a stab at explaining how I do it. What crosshair should I use? How do I know what exactly is angle the enemy ship is at? And generally, HOW DO I AIM?! I generally can aim well against broadside and slightly-angled ships, but even at close range, I fail miserably at aiming at angled targets. I come to you to seek assistance, for improving my gameplay.
